David Mahoney was born in 1979 and raised in New Orleans.  He comes from a musical family and holds a BA in Music from Loyola University, where his father John Mahoney was the Coordinator of Jazz Studies for 35 years.  

David is a consummate New Orleans “second-line” drummer in the lineage of his early teachers, Johnny Vidacovich, Stanton Moore, and Brian Blade. 

David currently may be heard playing with the Dukes Of Dixieland, Jimmy ‘Bean’ Ballero, Jamil Sharif, and Fritzel’s All-Stars among others.
